Century Cruises: A New Era on the World’s Rivers
For more than 30 years, Century Cruises has been refining the art of river cruising on China’s magnificent Yangtze River, combining innovation, sustainability, cultural discovery and exceptional hospitality.
At WTM London 2026, Century Cruises will share how three decades of experience in China are now providing the foundation for the company’s international expansion across some of the world’s greatest rivers.
This year’s WTM London theme — “Resilience, rebound & reinvention: the next era of global travel” — closely reflects Century Cruises’ own journey.
Five Ships. Five Years. One Belief in the Future.
Over the course of just five years, Century Cruises built and launched five new-generation ships on the Yangtze River — some before the COVID-19 pandemic, some during it and others in its aftermath.
At a time of extraordinary uncertainty for the global travel industry, Century Cruises continued to invest in new ships, new technology and new guest experiences because of its long-term belief in the future of river cruising.
That commitment, together with the resilience of the Century Cruises team and its travel partners around the world, helped drive record booking performance and continued growth.
But resilience is not simply about recovering. It is about having the confidence to reinvent.
From the Yangtze to the Rivers of Europe
After three decades on the Yangtze, Century Cruises brought its river-cruising expertise to Europe with Century Star, beginning a new chapter for the company.
Century’s European philosophy is built around the concept of “Rivers Entwined” — celebrating the destinations, cultures, architecture and cuisine of Europe while retaining subtle connections to the company’s Chinese heritage.
Even nature tested Century’s resilience during its European launch, as challenging water conditions required the team to adapt quickly. Decades of river-operating experience helped Century respond while continuing to deliver the level of service and hospitality expected by its guests.
The result has provided Century Cruises with valuable experience as it continues building its presence in Europe and preparing for further international growth.
The Next Great River: The Nile
The journey that began on the Yangtze and expanded into Europe is now moving toward another of the world’s legendary waterways — the Nile.
Century Cruises is planning a new generation of sustainable vessels for Egypt, bringing its approach to ship design, innovation, hospitality and sustainable luxury to one of the world’s most extraordinary destinations.
The expansion represents another important step toward Century Cruises becoming a truly global river-cruise brand.
Beyond the Ship: The Heritage Collection
Century Cruises’ international growth will also introduce travelers to the developing Heritage Collection — a curated collection of immersive experiences designed to connect guests more deeply with the destinations through which they travel.
From extraordinary cultural and culinary experiences in Europe to the ancient heritage of China and Egypt, the Heritage Collection reflects Century Cruises’ belief that the most memorable river journeys are created both on board and ashore.
